MOROCCAN AND NORTH AFRICAN FINE DINING
One of Andalucia’s prime eating destinations the Jardín del Califa serves authentic Moroccan and Middle Eastern food in stone vaulted dining rooms with a lush palm-filled courtyard. Set in an emblematic 16th century building the Jardín del Califa has been recommended by the MICHELIN guide since 2008.
Immerse yourself with the sound of the fountain, the scent of jasmine and the rustle of the palms. The Califa will take you back in time to when the Arabs ruled Andalucía more than 700 years ago. Enjoy amongst many other dishes a traditional mezze, harira, tagines, cous cous, succulent lamb kebabs and kofta from our traditional barbecue or crispy pastelas of chicken and almonds. Our desserts are all home made at the Califa by our pastry chef Amina offering baklava, Moroccan pastries, chocolate fondant with tahini and date cheesecake amongst other delicacies.
While here enjoy the wonderful views from our panoramic terrace at the Tetería del Califa (adjacent to the restaurant) where ideal for an aperitif or a digestif. We serve teas, coffees, pastries and cocktails from midday to midnight.

COMEDORES DEL JARDÍN
El Aljibe
Romance by candlelight
This unique space is our smallest dining room with a single table for up to 7 people. The ‘Aljibe’ is the interior of an old cistern built in the Islamic period of Vejer.
El Templo
A vaulted wonder
The barrel-vaulted “Temple” dates from 1527 and its chapel-like feel inspired its name. The stonework is in exceptional condition and, like the rest of the restaurant, has romantic lighting. There are five tables for 2, one table for 5 and two tables for 4. For special groups, this dining room can be set up as a banquet. The tables are made of French oak and are made locally, while the chairs come from India.
La pergola
Garden views
In summer, the glass curtain is pulled back leaving the entire dining room open to the garden. Stone arches frame one end of the room and, lit with 5 elaborate Moroccan lamps and candles, this is a favorite dining area for many of our guests. There are four tables for 2, five tables for 4 and one table for 8. Some tables can be joined together to form larger tables depending on the needs of the guests.
The pergola and garden tables are made in Marrakech in the Gueliz style, with finely cut ceramic pieces. The metal chairs are also from Morocco.
El jardín
Dinner under the stars
A summer night under the stars, with the scent of jasmine in the air and the tinkling of a fountain as a serenade, or a winter lunch in the shade of our palm trees, can be one of the most memorable moments of a visit to Vejer.
