September and October: The Event Season Begins
30 September to 4 October: Sierra del Retín Organic Beef Food Trail
Barbate kicks off the autumn food season with the third edition of the Sierra del Retín Organic Beef Food Trail, a celebration of the town’s livestock-farming heritage and one of its most distinctive local products.
The programme begins on 30 September with a live cooking demonstration and tasting in Plaza del Faro. From 1 to 4 October, twelve bars and restaurants across Barbate will serve special tapas made with this locally reared organic beef.
The event also includes butchery demonstrations and activities introducing visitors to extensive livestock farming and the origins of local produce. A delicious excuse to discover Barbate through its food.
2 to 4 October: 42nd Vejer Hill Climb
Vejer once again takes centre stage in Andalusian motorsport with the 42nd edition of its traditional hill climb.
Over three days, drivers and motorsport enthusiasts will gather in the town for a competition with more than four decades of history, now firmly established as one of the area’s major sporting events.
Organised by Escudería Sur, the event promises a weekend of racing and motorsport atmosphere, with drivers from Vejer and across Andalusia taking part.
It’s an opportunity to discover a different side of Vejer and combine the excitement of motorsport with a stroll through its historic old town.
7 to 12 October: 13th Retinto Beef Food Trail in Zahara de los Atunes
Zahara de los Atunes once again pays tribute to one of the region’s most distinctive products: Retinto beef.
Over six days, participating establishments in the 13th Retinto Beef Food Trail will offer a variety of dishes combining traditional recipes with contemporary creations. Tapas, tastings and cultural activities will be part of a celebration that invites visitors to explore Zahara’s bars and restaurants.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover the area’s rich culinary heritage and enjoy a stroll along its beaches, which regain their tranquillity in autumn.
10 October: Gastro Music Festival Vejer
On 10 October, Vejer comes alive with music and flavour as the Gastro Music Festival returns for another edition. Combining local gastronomy with live concerts in bars and restaurants throughout the town, the festival offers a musical and culinary journey through Vejer’s streets. Enjoy local flavours, discover new artists and soak up the atmosphere of Vejer in autumn.
11 October: 9th International Lomo en Manteca Day
On Sunday 11 October, Vejer celebrates one of the most popular gastronomic events in its calendar: International Lomo en Manteca Day.
Now in its ninth edition, the festival is dedicated to one of the town’s most iconic recipes: pork loin preserved in seasoned pork fat, a dish passed down through generations and closely linked to Vejer’s traditional butchers and roadside eateries.
Lomo en manteca takes centre stage in a celebration that brings together locals and visitors to enjoy Vejer’s culinary heritage and recognise those who keep this tradition alive.
An unmissable event for anyone wishing to discover Vejer through its most authentic flavours.
October and November: International Sport, Music and Gastronomy
13 October to 8 November: Andalucía October Tour at Montenmedio
The Dehesa Montenmedio facilities, just a few kilometres from Vejer, once again welcome international riders and teams for the sixth Andalucía October Tour.
For almost four weeks, the Sunshine Tour equestrian centre will host international showjumping competitions, bringing together competitors from different countries and turning the region into a meeting point for the equestrian world.
The event offers a chance to experience the atmosphere of major equestrian competitions and discover one of the Costa de la Luz’s best-known sporting venues.
For those travelling to Vejer for the tour, autumn is also an invitation to explore beyond the competition. Wandering through the historic old town, visiting the beaches of Los Caños de Meca and discovering the region’s gastronomy are just some of the ways to make the most of an extended stay.

17 and 18 October | Algarrobo 2026: Rural Culture, Art and Sustainability in La Paternilla
La Paternilla hosts the first edition of Algarrobo, Cultura Rural, an open-door event bringing together art, culture and sustainability in the rural surroundings of Vejer. Over two days, residents, artists and local groups will open up their spaces and share their projects through guided visits, workshops, exhibitions, live music, markets and competitions.

Participants will present their dishes on the morning of Sunday 18 October and have the chance to win one of two prizes offered by Califa:

23 to 25 October: Jazzahara
Autumn in Zahara de los Atunes has its own soundtrack. From 23 to 25 October, Jazzahara returns for its seventh edition with a programme bringing together contemporary jazz, flamenco, African music and other genres.
The Palacio de las Pilas will be the main venue for three days of live music, featuring artists including Diego Amador, Carmen Souza, Lucía Rey, Manolo Pereira Quinteto Polar and Potato Head Jazz Band.
On Saturday 24 October, there will also be a free concert by Padilla Siblings in Plaza Rafael Trujillo.
Jazzahara is the perfect opportunity to enjoy Zahara outside the summer season, combine live music with dinner by the sea and discover one of the region’s autumn cultural highlights.

23 October to 2 November: 13th Retinto Beef Food Trail in Conil
Conil also dedicates part of its autumn calendar to gastronomy with the 13th Retinto Beef Food Trail, an initiative celebrating the many ways of preparing this native breed of beef.
Over ten days, participating bars and restaurants will introduce special dishes to their menus, ranging from traditional recipes to more innovative creations.
The event will also include a gastronomic showcase over the weekend of 24 and 25 October, offering visitors the chance to sample some of the dishes prepared by participating establishments.
It’s an excellent opportunity to visit Conil at a quieter time of year, explore its whitewashed streets and enjoy its gastronomy and beaches.
Until December: Art and Culture at the Vejer Museum
Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens: An Exhibition to Discover This Autumn
Autumn is also a wonderful time to explore Vejer’s cultural heritage. Until 18 December, the Museum of History and Archaeology is hosting the exhibition Dürer, Rembrandt and Rubens and Their Circle: Original Etchings and Engravings.
The exhibition brings together around 50 works from the Fernández-Oliván family collection, featuring original pieces by some of Europe’s great masters of the 16th and 17th centuries.
It also includes a recreation of a printmaking workshop, offering visitors an insight into the techniques used by these artists and an art form that played a fundamental role in spreading art and knowledge during the early modern period.
A visit well worth including in any exploration of Vejer’s historic old town.
