Vejer enters the final days of August with a week that still carries the full energy of summer. Flamenco, live music, contemporary art, evening tours and outdoor experiences take place across the historic centre, El Palmar and Montenmedio before September begins.
From 27 August to 3 September 2026, these are some of the most interesting events and activities to enjoy in Vejer and the surrounding area.
Thursday 27 August
As the sun begins to set, El Palmar fills with music once again with Negro Cherokee, Jairo de Remate and Nani Cortés at Chiringuito El Arenal, and Mirrorball at El Pico de la Ola.
Back in Vejer, at 9 pm, discover a different side of the town with La Noche Oscura de Vejer, the guided tour with live singing by Marimantas Vejer. At 9.30 pm, Taberna Flamenca Caragato welcomes Nano de Marbella.
Friday 28 August
Dance comes to the Teatro Municipal San Francisco with Falla en Movimiento, performed by the Ballet Joven de Cádiz, at 9 pm. Admission is free.
One of the week’s most distinctive experiences takes place at 10 pm at the Fundación Montenmedio Contemporánea, with a guided visit under the full moon. The activity costs €30 and advance booking is essential.
At the same time, the Antigua Iglesia del Rosario hosts an evening of flamenco with Alejandro Silva on vocals, Beatriz Santiago dancing and Juan Antonio Gómez on guitar, with free admission.
In El Palmar, sunset comes with its own soundtrack courtesy of La Fabi & Zambullo at El Arenal and Son de Bares at El Pico de la Ola.
Saturday 29 August
Saturday offers plenty to do from early in the day. At 10 am, Montenmedio Contemporánea hosts Yoga en el Museo, while the Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park offers a guided visit to the Torre del Tajo from 10 am to 2 pm.
At sunset, Fundación Montenmedio offers the chance to experience one of its most distinctive works with a visit to James Turrell’s light sequence, an approximately 40-minute experience designed to transform the perception of light and space.
Also at sunset, Chiringuito El Arenal welcomes Remedios Amaya.
The evening continues in Vejer with La Noche Oscura de Vejer at 9 pm and, at 10 pm, flamenco at the Antigua Iglesia del Rosario with Agustín Mancheño on vocals, Melisa Picón Rivero dancing and David de la Jeroma on guitar. In La Muela, Palomy López performs at Bar Carupsso at 10 pm.
Sunday 30 August
Sunday is another good opportunity to visit the Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park, with another guided visit to the Torre del Tajo from 10 am to 2 pm.
At sunset, visitors can once again experience James Turrell’s light sequence at Montenmedio Contemporánea.
In El Palmar, summer begins to draw to a close with a farewell party featuring guest artists at El Arenal, while Four Monkeys perform at El Pico de la Ola.
In the evening, the guided tour with live singing, La Noche Oscura de Vejer, continues, departing from Plaza de España at 9 pm.
Monday 31 August
The final day of the month continues with guided tours through Vejer’s historic centre, with both Vejer Freetours and Vejer Tour.
In El Palmar, Diego de Gloria performs at sunset at El Pico de la Ola. At 9 pm, La Noche Oscura de Vejer once again departs from Plaza de España.
It is also the final day to visit some of the temporary exhibitions that have accompanied the month of August.
Tuesday 1 September
September begins with further opportunities to explore Vejer’s historic quarter through the different guided tours scheduled throughout the morning and afternoon.
From 8 pm, the Peña Cultural Flamenca, on Calle Rosario, hosts its flamenco gathering.
At 9 pm, La Noche Oscura de Vejer takes place once again, offering a different way to discover the town’s stories and legends after sunset.
Wednesday 2 September
On Wednesday, the Teatro Municipal San Francisco hosts a screening of the short film Ángel, by Gary Hamill, at 7.45 pm. The screening will be followed by a flamenco performance by Diego de Gloria.
Guided tours through the historic centre and La Noche Oscura de Vejer complete the day’s programme.
Thursday 3 September
The week ends as it began, with the El Chorrillo street market, from 9 am to 2 pm.
Throughout the day, guided tours exploring Vejer’s historic quarter will continue and, at 9 pm, there will be another opportunity to join La Noche Oscura de Vejer.
Art and exhibitions to round off the week
Beyond the daily programme, several temporary exhibitions can still be visited over the coming days.
Until 30 August, the Museum of History and Archaeology of Vejer hosts La misma orilla, dos tiempos, by Carlos Montaño and María Ponce, while Entorno, by Juan Manuel Basallote and Antonio Larrubia, can be seen until 31 August.
The Centro de las Artes Antigua Iglesia del Rosario continues to host the photography and illustration exhibition Flamencas ilustradas, by Isa de la Calle and Susana Subirana, until the end of August.
And for those looking to combine culture and nature, the Fundación Montenmedio Contemporánea remains one of the essential places to visit around Vejer, with its sculpture park integrated into the landscape of the Dehesa de Montenmedio.
