El Califa joins the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Jazz Vejer by hosting a series of concerts in one of its most special spaces: La Tetería del Califa. A programme designed to enjoy live music in a close, intimate format, deeply connected to the spirit of the festival.
Over the coming months, La Tetería becomes the setting for midday musical encounters, where jazz, flamenco and other sounds engage in dialogue with the calm atmosphere of the space and the unhurried experience that defines the Califa.

Cocktails, teas, coffees and pastries with a view
La Tetería del Califa is located at C/ Cilla Vieja, 14 and can be accessed either from Calle Cilla Vieja, just behind Plaza de España, or through the restaurant El Jardín del Califa.
Its panoramic terrace offers views over the Dehesa de Montenmedio, the marshes of the Barbate River, the Sierra de los Alcornocales and, of course, the whitewashed houses that make up the beautiful town of Vejer.
In addition to coffees, teas, soft drinks and cocktails, the sweet moment comes courtesy of its artisanal pastry selection, featuring the Califa’s famous Moroccan pastries, made daily by pastry chef Amina Essaadi.
La Tetería is also a place to delight in art and photography. Its charming interior houses a permanent exhibition of images taken between 1960 and the present, documenting the travels through Jordan, Yemen, Syria and Morocco of Charles and James Stuart (father and son, with James being co-founder of Grupo Califa). Photographs from three generations (father, children and grandchildren) capture moments from a family that lived and travelled far from their native Scotland. Additional photographs are by Sir Wilfred Thesiger (1910–2003), under licence from the Thesiger Collection at the Pitt Rivers Museum (Oxford, England).

Music, gastronomy and comfort at the Califa
After the concert, the experience can continue around the table. Just a few steps away, some of our gastronomic spaces await you, such as Califa Tapas, FEZ Vejer, opening its doors on 12 February, or the iconic El Jardín del Califa, perfect for extending the midday with great food and a relaxed atmosphere.
And if the plan turns into a getaway, our charming accommodation, including hotels and houses, invites you to stay the night and enjoy Vejer at an unhurried pace, carried along by music, gastronomy and the charm of the town.

Commitment to local culture
For the Califa, being part of and supporting initiatives such as Jazz Vejer is a natural way of understanding our bond with Vejer. Sponsoring and hosting cultural events that grow from within the town not only fosters talent and creativity, but also enriches Vejer’s cultural life, strengthens its identity and turns music, art and gastronomy into shared experiences that live on beyond a single date.
