Summer in Vejer and the surrounding area is packed with opportunities to enjoy music, culture and art under the open sky. Jazz and flamenco festivals, seaside concerts, performances in unique venues and immersive artistic experiences make the Costa de la Luz one of the most appealing destinations of the season. Here are some of the events not to be missed in the coming months.

Jazz Vejer Festival | 25 to 27 June
From 25 to 27 June, Vejer will once again come alive to the sound of jazz as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of Jazz Vejer, one of the highlights of the summer cultural calendar and a festival we have proudly sponsored since its very beginning. Over three days, the streets and squares of the historic centre will host an eclectic programme featuring world jazz, flamenco jazz, funk, neo-soul, swing, classic jazz and even the distinctive sounds of boleroglam, reinforcing Vejer’s reputation as one of Andalucía’s leading jazz destinations.

Vejer Flamenco | 8 to 11 July
From 8 to 11 July, Vejer Flamenco celebrates its fifth edition, once again transforming the village into a large open-air stage. Established artists and emerging talent come together in a festival that champions intimacy and emotion, offering the chance to experience flamenco in some of Vejer’s most atmospheric settings.
Anfi Teatro Zahora | June to September
Just a few minutes from Vejer, Anfi Teatro Zahora presents one of the most extensive cultural programmes of the summer. More than 70 performances between June and September bring together theatre, music, dance, magic, cabaret, improvisation and clowning in a unique open-air amphitheatre surrounded by nature.
Valhalla Beach Club | Music by the Sea
Live music will also take centre stage this summer at Valhalla Beach Club in El Palmar. Its programme combines live concerts, DJ sessions and special events overlooking the Atlantic, making it one of the liveliest meeting places on the coast for enjoying sunsets and summer evenings to the soundtrack of great music.

Fundación Montenmedio Contemporánea | James Turrell’s Light Sequence
Just a short drive from Vejer, Fundación Montenmedio Contemporánea offers one of Spain’s most remarkable artistic experiences: the light sequence created by James Turrell. Part of the artwork Second Wind 2005, the experience takes place within the artist’s iconic Skyspace, a specially designed chamber that frames the sky through an opening in the ceiling. As the sequence unfolds, changing light transforms the perception of both the space and the sky itself, creating an immersive experience that invites visitors to contemplate time, colour and nature from a completely different perspective. An essential visit for anyone wishing to combine contemporary art and landscape on the Costa de la Luz.
