Zambombas: Visiting Southern Spain in December is truly magical and one of the main reasons is the celebration of the Zambombas a popular party where everyone sings, dances and shares as timeless villancicos, romances and coplas. Check out the programme.

2.Family activities for children

From December 3 to 6 will take place the VI Feria del Libro Infantil y Juvenil in the Teatro San Francisco, Vejer’s main theatre, from 12:00 to 17:00. Check out the programme.

5. Listening to live music with a view.

Next Wednesday 7 December from 16:00 to 18:00 enjoy live music by Fran Mangas while you sip, snack, and savor Califa’s Moroccan pastries at La Tetería del Califa.

You can’t miss the phe permanent exhibition inside the bar. It is a collection of family photographs taken between 1970 and 2016 covering Morocco and the Middle East. The pictures of 3 generations (father, sons and grandchildren) show snapshots of a family who have lived and travelled far from their native Scotland. Additional photographs by Sir Wilfred Thesiger (1910-2003) under license from the Thesiger collection at the Pitt Rivers museum (Oxford, England).

6. Travel through flavors

Enjoy a gastronomic journey through the Middle East and North Africa and the Middle East. Get lost among flavors and legends, in an intimate and private place. El Jardín del Califa will take you back in time to when the Arabs ruled Andalucía more than 700 years ago.

7. Walk in nature

Take a deep, calming breath in nature. Connecting with nature helps you find peace in your busy life while making the world a better place. Enjoy hiking through the beautiful La Brena y Marismas del Barbate Natural park to Cape Trafalgar and the coastal town of Barbate.

8. Reconnect in the Hammam.

Immerse yourself in a trip to the Andalusian past of Vejer. Our intimate and cozy Hammam is located in a historic enclave, between what was the old Mosque (now the Church of the Divino Salvador of Vejer) and the Alcazaba (the town’s Castle of Arab origin). Book your experience.

9. Relax by the sea.

Take a nice walk on the beach. El Palmar, our lovely white sand beach, is located just a few kilometers away from Vejer. There’s nothing quite like walking along Vejer’s beach El Palmar when the sun is shining and the sea breeze is filling the air. A little further on, but just a little further, are the beaches of Caños de Meca.

10. Art and nature.

NMAC sculpture park. Highly recommended and just a 7 minute drive from Vejer is one of Spain’s principal outdoor art collections with works by James Turrel, Huang Yong Ping, Sol LeWitt and many others. This is a stunning natural location set amongst mature parkland. For a change of scene visit the nearby clubhouse at the Montenmedio Golf course for a reasonably priced light meal overlooking the truly lovely fairways with views to Vejer.
