The new season at Hotel Madreselva begins with some very special news. The hotel opens its doors on January 30 with a clear commitment to seasonality: it will remain open all year round, becoming the first hotel in Los Caños de Meca to stay open twelve months a year.
But the big news arrives just a few days later. On February 6, El Jardín de Madreselva opens, a new gastronomic space created to become a place to meet, enjoy and linger, just a few steps from the sea.
Surrounded by palm trees and lush vegetation, and located just 50 metres from the beaches of Los Caños de Meca, El Jardín de Madreselva offers a relaxed and informal experience, deeply connected to its natural surroundings.
The restaurant follows the tradition of its “older sibling”, the iconic El Jardín del Califa, inheriting its travelling spirit, its love for quality produce and its way of understanding the table as a place to share.
Flavours from Morocco and the Middle East, with an Andalusian soul
The gastronomic concept has been created by the team behind the legendary Jardín del Califa, one of the leading gastronomic destinations in the province of Cádiz. From this comes a cuisine based on well-balanced spices, recipes with history and an open взгляд towards the cuisines of Andalusia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
The menu offers something for everyone: healthy options, vegetarian dishes, meats, colourful juices and smoothies, as well as an original cocktail menu designed to extend the after-dinner moment without watching the clock.
The history of Caños de Meca, served at the table
The history of Caños de Meca is not told only through temples, myths or legends. It can also be tasted. More than 3,000 years ago, the Phoenicians reached this coast from the eastern Mediterranean, bringing with them not only Melkart (Hercules to the Greeks), but also a way of understanding the world based on trade, travel, hospitality and shared meals.
Those same routes that once connected Tyre, Sidon and present-day Lebanon with the south of the Iberian Peninsula carried spices, olive oil, wheat, legumes and culinary knowledge that still live on today in the cuisines of Morocco and the Middle East.
The menu at El Jardín de Madreselva is a tribute to this legacy: Moroccan, Lebanese, Greek and Middle Eastern-inspired dishes, reinterpreted from Andalusia as a natural continuation of that ancient journey that ended in Trafalgar.
From February, Los Caños de Meca gains a new place to stay… and a new place to sit down and enjoy the table at a relaxed pace.
Very soon we will unveil the menu and open reservations… stay tuned!
